History

The company was incorporated in Singapore in October 1997 as Santoku Merck Pte Ltd. The joint venture was made up of Santoku Chemical Industries Co. Ltd, Merck KGaA and Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

BASF SE took over the shares of Merck KGaA and became a shareholder in April 2005. The company name has been changed to Santoku BASF Pte. Ltd. effective July 2005. The company name, Santoku BASF Pte Ltd, remains unchanged. In April 2007, Mitsui & Co Ltd (15%) transferred 5% shares to Mitsui & Co (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd.
